About Us
We (Jenny & Trent) met on a volunteer trip to a wildlife shelter back in 2014. We were both in school in Prince George, BC and found out we worked in Algonquin Park, Ontario in the summers just a few lakes apart! (The cedar forests and handmade canoes there are what inspired the name cedarwood🛶) We quickly bonded over all the things we had in common. We spent a lot of our early winters making art together and selling drawings, prints, henna and pottery at local markets and shops.
Jenny started Cedarwood Ceramics in 2018 after learning pottery for a few years at a local guild. Trent began painting with underglazes on the pottery in 2020 and taking over a lot of the behind the scenes tasks. We made the move to Nelson together that same year and have been busy creating and exploring the west kootenays since then! Our little fluff Ellie also joined us at that time😸
After moving around a bit we are (hopefully!) settled into a studio space that will be our base for a while! We have been working on a small gallery with ceramics, paintings and prints and a paint-your-own pottery room for the community to enjoy! Its been a journey trying to make everything work out as artists together but we'll always be grateful for the time we’ve been able to spend collaborating and improving! We hope you enjoy the ceramic creations :) We are so grateful for all of your support over the years!🤍
